Jordan Colbert


Bio:

Jordan joined Yale’s Student Accessibility Services in 2021. Hailing from South Jersey, he identifies as and is proud to be a biracial first-generation and low-income graduate. He received his B.A in Classical Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California (USC). He started in disability services in 2015 as a Graduate Counselor and transitioned to working as an Assistive Technology Specialist for USC in 2017. Prior to working in the field of accessibility, Jordan served as a psychotherapist with high school students and provided Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to substance abuse populations. At Yale, he oversees the Student Workers in Assistive Technology (SWAT) Team, which coordinates the delivery, training, and accessibility for assistive technology solutions. Outside of his role, Jordan can often be found debating philosophy with friends, traveling, and watching professional sports.

Peter Cole


Bio:

Born in Paterson, NJ, in 1957, Peter Cole is the author of six collections of poems most recently Draw Me After. His many volumes of translation from Hebrew and Arabic, medieval and modern include The Dream of the Poem: Hebrew Poetry from Muslim and Christian Spain, c. 950-1492 and The Poetry of Kabbalah: Mystical Verse from the Jewish Tradition. With Adina Hoffman, he is also the author of Sacred Trash: The Lost and Found World of the Cairo Geniza, which won the American Library Association’s Brody Medal for the Jewish Book of the Year. Among his honors are an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Literature, a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, a Jewish National Book Award, the PEN Prize in Translation, and a MacArthur Fellowship. He has been affiliated with Yale since 2006, and currently teaches courses each spring in Comparative Literature and Jewish Studies.  Peter.cole@yale.edu

Dr. Roger Colten


Bio:

Dr. Roger Colten is the Senior Collections Manager for the Anthropology Division at the Peabody Museum of Natural History at Yale University and an archaeologist who specializes in the study of coastal and island sites, focusing on the analysis of vertebrate animal remains (bones).  While his dissertation research focused on Native American adaptations to coastal environments in southern California, he has more recently analyzed museum collections from Europe and Cuba that are housed at the Peabody Museum.  In addition to his museum collections research he has participated in archaeological field projects in California, Germany, Israel, Italy, Malta, Michigan, and Nevada.  He has worked in several other museums including the Fowler Museum of Cultural History at UCLA and the National Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian.
